ABOUT CASA CUBISTA
Casa Cubista was founded in 2016 by David Pimentel and Arren Williams. Inspired by the cubist houses of Olhão, Casa Cubista works with artisans, small manufacturers and family businesses from all over Portugal - their design combines traditional Portuguese craftsmanship with classic modern taste. The different patterns - vertical & horizontal stripes, rays emanating from the middle or spirals - also fit together when thrown together randomly. The glaze, whether transparent or colored, is always applied by hand by briefly dipping it into the glaze slurry or with a brush - small bumps in the glaze are therefore unavoidable. So every bowl, every plate, every jug always looks a little different - differences in color intensity are to be expected. The lines are also not perfectly geometric but are painted by eye or dipped into the glaze. Casa Cubista ceramics are real handcraft.
